Shooting of My First Abortion
The Slovenian filmmaker, visual artist and poet Hannah Koselj Marušič wrapped up shooting her short film My First Abortion. The principal photography process commenced on May 23. According to the filmmaker, the film is based on her personal experience and the experiences of other women who went through the process of the non-surgical, non-invasive abortion via medicine. “I want to create a film which makes space for empathy, courage and sincerity.”, she said and added: “My goal is to show the abortion as a realistic, multi-layered experience”.
Lucija Ostan Vejrup plays the lead role, while the supporting roles are played by Maruša Majer, Primož Pirnat, Domen Novak and Nataša Jerant Zupančič. Crew-wise, Sašo Štih served as the cinematographer, Žan Šabader as the set designer, Katarina Šavs as the costume designer and Sanja Rivić as the make-up designer. Jaka Batič recorded the sound, Jera Topolovec composed the music, Julij Zornik serves as the sound designer and Marta Bregeš as the editor.
My First Abortion is produced by Vertigo (represented by Zala Opara) in co-production with the Croatian company More Magnets (represented by Filip Filković Philatz). It was supported by the Slovenian Film Centre and Croatian Audiovisual Centre with the support of Viba Film Studios and Sonder production. Radiator handles the sales.
