Slovenian Film Centre at Shanghai International Film & TV Market
The 30th edition of Shanghai International Film and Television Market took place from June 21-25. Slovenia’s participation, supported by the Slovenian Tourist Board, at the market event was centred around two things: the presentation of our country’s filming locations and the promotion of the new, digitally restored version of Kekec (Jože Gale, 1951).
Regarding locations, Slovenia has a wide and varied choice of them closely within the reach, so over the course of one day, a film crew could shoot in the mountains, at the seaside, in the caves of Kras region or in the Panonian Plains. Key factors are also the preservation and soundness of the historical objects and the tax incentive / cash rebate scheme of 25%.
In Shanghai, the Slovenian Film Centre also promoted Kekec, one of the greatest international hits and signature films for the Slovenian Cinema. “The new, digitally restored version of Kekec presents a great opportunity for deepening the co-operation between Slovenia and China regarding film creation”, said the SFC director Nataša Bučar on the occasion.
