15. July 2024
The screenplay for the film is based on the novel of the same name by the author of youth literature and screenwriter Janja Vidmar.

On Friday, 5 July 2024, the shooting of the youth feature Elvis Škorc, Clever Klutz by the director Boris Jurjaševič began in Ljubljana.

The director says the following about the new film: “The film portrays a very likeable protagonist, Elvis, who is searching for his place in his family and among his peers. Elvis is going through a critical period in his life when, in addition to the difficulties of growing up, he also has to cope with his parents’ divorce. At school, he excels in chemistry, gets bullied by his classmates, and has a crush on the prettiest girl in school. Elvis Škorc, Clever Klutz is a youth film about friendship, relationships with parents, and first love. Young viewers will easily recognise themselves, while the older ones will remember how they themselves dealt with such problems when they were young.”

The star of the film is the 14-year-old Maks Peštaj Zevnik. Other children’s roles are played by Frida Bratuš, Kiara Kenig, Hana Majdič, Tilen Kolbe, Til Pučko, Arne Duhovnik, Emil Kulović, and Peter Perme. The film also features Iva Krajnc as Elvis Škorc’s mother, Matej Puc as his father, Zvezdana Mlakar as his grandmother, and Marko Mandič as his teacher. The rest of the cast includes Gojmir Lešnjak - Gojc, Ksenija Mišič, Alenka Kraigher, and Manca Dorrer.

The director of photography is Alexandr Šurkala, a Slovak living in Prague, the production designer is Niko Novak, the makeup designer is Eva Uršič, and the costume designer is Polonca Valentinčič.

The film is produced by Radovan Mišić from Fabula production company. Regarding the shooting of the new film, he said: Elvis Škorc, Clever Klutz is a youth and family film that presents the protagonist Elvis, his separated Škorč family, the turbulent events in the eighth grade of primary school, his adventures related to chemistry experiments, and his first love in a topical, modern, and humorous way. Such as he is, Elvis Škorc can easily become a character beloved by his generation, which is mostly lost and glued to their phones, lacking much desire to express themselves in any other manner.”

The film will be shot over 28 shooting days, with the main part of the filming taking place in Ljubljana’s districts of Prule, Trnovo, and Poljanski nasip, as well as in one of the most beautiful karst caves in Slovenia. It is financially supported by the Slovenian Film Centre and co-produced by RTV Slovenija.

The director and screenwriter Boris Jurjaševič, born in 1955 in Slovenj Gradec, is an established author of fiction and documentary films for cinema and television. As a co-director, he has recently worked on the successful TV series Cases of Inspector Vrenko and directed the live-action TV feature film Rabid Foxes.
