Landscape no.2 Slovenian entry for Oscar

The feature "Landscape No. 2" by the writer and director Vinko Möderndorfer, produced by Forum Ljubljana, has been selected as the Slovenian candidate for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

This year four films applied for the selection for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, which had been, according to the rules of the American Academy, shown in the national cinemas last year. Besides Landscape No. 2 the following films also applied for the selection: Forever by Damjan Kozole (Vertigo/Emotion film), Life by Vito Taufer (VPK), and Transition by Boris Palčič (Aatalanta).

The candidate was selected by the expert commission of the Association of Slovenian Filmmakers, consisting of: Ana Lasić (screenwriter), Ida Weiss (producer), Primož Bezjak (actor), Tatjana Birgmajer (costumes designer), Gorazd Trušnovec (film critic), Janez Bricelj (editor), while the jury was presided over by Bojan Kastelic (director of photography).

Landscape No. 2 is last year's winner of the Festival of Slovenian Film, where it received six Vesna Awards: for Best Film, Best Direction, Best Female Supporting Role, Best Photography, Best Production Design and Best Music. It also received the Award for Best Script at the Brooklyn Festival in New York.
Landscape No. 2 had its world premiere at last year's Venice Film Festival. It was also screened at the following international film festivals: Warsaw, Istanbul, Santa Barbara, Adelaide, FEST, Miami, Mamers en Mars, Philadelphia, Copenhagen, Eurocine 27, Brooklyn, Pula, and others.

The Sales agent of the film is Wide Management. In USA it is distributed by Vanguard.
It was produced by Forum Ljubljana and co produced by the Serbian Delirium Films, RTV Slovenia and VPK, and co financed by the Slovenian Film Fund and Film Center Serbia.
The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has been granting The Oscars since 1929. The Oscar is one of the most prestigious award in the field of film arts. The Academy makes it possible for the national expert associations in the field of film in those countries whose official language is not English to present their national suggestions for the nominations in the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film category. According to the decision of the Academy, Slovenian films are selected by the Association of Slovenian Filmmakers.
