The 54th Taormina Film Festival concluded on Saturday, 21 June. The jury, consisting of the Turkish‑Italian director Ferzan Ozpetek (president), Mirsad Purivatra, director of the Sarajevo Film Festival, and Jytte Jensen, curator of the Modern Art Museum from New York, gave the Award for Best Actor or Actress to the Slovenian actress Tanja Ribič for her role in the film Tractor, Love and Rock'n'Roll by the director Branko Djurić, which had its international premiere at this prestigious Sicilian festival. The jury selected Tanja Ribič due to her "ability to maintain irony and emotions in completely different situations throughout the film".

The Special Jury Award went to the Turkish film Summer Book by Seyfi Teoman, while the Golden Bull went to the Egyptian film Eye of the Sun by Ibrahim El Batout.

This is definitely an important award for the film by Branko Djurić as well as a significant recognition for the actress Tanja Ribič, since this is her first international film award.

In Slovenia the film Tractor, Love and Rock'n'Roll was shown at the last Festival of Slovenian Film in Portorož, and it will be presented in August at the Grossman Film and Wine Festival before the Slovenian premiere and distribution in the Slovenian cinemas in the autumn.

The film is based on Vankoštanc, a novel by Feri Lainšček, and besides Tanja Ribič Branko Djurić himself also stars in the film.
