Our ships at foreign shores

In June
six Slovenian short films and four full-length films are going to be shown at the film festivals in Europe. Portrait With Background, a short documentary film by Amir Muratovič, is going to its first international film festival. It is to be shown at the 9th International Art Film Festival at Trenčianske Teplice, Slovakia, which is taking place between June 22 and June 29 2001. The film will be shown in the competition program "Artefacts", where Sašo Podgoršek's film Dom svobode won the Golden Key - the most important prize - at this festival last year. We also keep our fingers crossed this year. The animated film How to Get Rid of Macho by Marjan Manček is going to its second international film festival in Huesca, Spain. This is a festival with a superb tradition - this year it will take place between June 7 and June 16 2001 for the 29th time. Crossroads 2, a film by Franci Slak and Miloš Radosavljevič, was presented at the same festival last year. This year, though, it is headed for one of the biggest short animated film festivals, the Annecy film festival in France, where it is going to be shown in the Panorama section. This festival is going to last from June 4 to June 9 2001 and it is going to be the tenth film festival that Crossroads 2 took part in. Miha Mazzini's short film You Are Free. Decide. is going to participate at its second international film festival. It is to be presented to the Portuguese audience at the Troia Film Festival between June 1 and June 10. It is going to be shown in the Panorama section. The Portuguese audience got to know another Slovenian short film, Straight Ahead by Boris Petkovič. They were able to see it between May 30 and June 3 2001 at the Tali Film Festival in Lisbon. Hop, Skip & Jump by Srdjan Vuletiæ is still at the top of last year's most successful short film list. It is getting close to being shown for the thirtieth time - from June 6 and June 12 the German audience will be able to see it in Stuttgart. Slovenian full-length films will be shown at the following film festivals in June: The Last Supper by Vojko Anzeljc, already seen by more than 60.000 Slovenians, is going to its first film festival abroad. It is going to be shown in the competition program of the 8th International Film Festival 2001 in the Russian city of Sochi by the Black Sea. The festival is going to last from June 3 to June 14. Slovenia is also going to be present in the festival jury. We are to be represented by the producer Danijel Hočevar. Porn Film by Damjan Kozole is going to take part in the competition program of the European Film Festival in the Italian city of Lecce, which is going to take place between June 2 and June 9. Porn Film is still touring the festivals and this will be its seventeenth film festival. Apart from all of the contemporary films, two older Slovenian films, The Sand Castle and Dancing in the Rain by Boštjan Hladnik, are going to journey abroad in June. They are going to be shown at the Kinoteka Zlatna vrata ("Golden Gate Cinema") in Split, Croatia, in the frame of The Film Classics 2001.
