News of unpleasant surprises at awards, which were spreading all over Lido since the previous evening, and dedications to people's mothers were interrupted by Jan Cvitkovič, a Slovenian, aged 35, the Lion of the Future for his Bread and Milk, one of the few comets to strike Lido this year, the discovery by Robert Turigliatta and his fierce section New Grounds. The T-shirt with a huge sickle and hammer, which caused some controversy in Slovenia, his homeland, has not exactly filled Berlusconi's supporters in the audience with enthusiasm. The boy dedicated his award to Tyson and to the Slovenian football team, "who can conjure up emotions in us".
Cristina Piccino, Il manifesto, September 9 2001 The Lion of the Future was awarded to the Slovenian film Bread and Milk and the director Jan Cvitkovič put an end to the formal arrivals onto the stage with his army jeans and an antiglobalistic T-shirt with a red hammer and sickle design. He has also not yielded to stereotypical dedications: "I dedicate this award to Mike Tyson and to all the losers in this world, who do not stop fighting, like my country's football team."
