The Slovenian Film Retrospective in Rome

On 5 November 2003, the Slovenian film retrospective has begun in Rome. It is going to take place between 5 and 13 November, and as many as
ten Slovenian films will be shown there. This is the fourth retrospective of the Slovenian film this year. The Slovenian film retrospective in Rome offers the audience a glimpse at the Slovenian cinematography through the decades with the emphasis on recent films. The overview of the older and the contemporary Slovenian cinematography consists of ten films. Five films present a glance of the Slovenian film history: The Valley Of Peace by France Stiglic (1956), Dance In The Rain by Bostjan Hladnik (1961), The Widowhood Of Karolina Zasler by Matjaz Klopcic (1976), Farewell Until The Next War by Zivojin Pavloviæ (1980) and Red Boogie by Karpo Godina (1982). The other five films were created in the independent Slovenia: Express Express by Igor Sterk (1997), Outsider by Andrej Kosak (1997), Socializing The Bull? by Zvonko Coh and Milan Eric (1998), Bread And Milk by Jan Cvitkovic (2001) and Sweet Dreams by Saso Podgorsek (2001. The retrospective was prepared by the Film Fund of the Republic of Slovenia – public fund in co-operation with the Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Rome and the "Carte di Cinema" magazine. The retrospective was made possible by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Italy - direction for cinematography and AGIS - the Italian Film Association.
