The Summer Tour of the Slovenian Films

Summer is the time for vacation, time for relaxing at the seaside. So 7 Slovenian films have also recently travelled to the Croatian coast.
Idle Running, Bread And Milk, Ljubljana, Guardian of the Frontier, Rustling Landscapes, Spare Parts and A Portrait of the Poet With a Double were presented at the 51st Pula Film Festival in the new section entitled Presenting .
(A)torsion has started the summer season with an award. On 6 July it received the FEDIC Award, the special award of the Italian film clubs at the FilmVideo International Short Film Festival 2004 in Montecatini. Between 8 and 12 July (A)torsion was, together with The Last Wish, presented at another Italian festival, the La Citadella del Corto-ISFF festival in Rome. The second half of June was especially busy. (A)torsion was simultaneously shown between 15 and 20 June in France at the Sancy festival and on the exotic Hawaii in the frame of the Maui Film Festival. In August (A)torsion will once again simultaneously appear on two continents. It is invited to the Silhouette Short Film Festival in Paris and to the Sao Paulo International Short Film Festival in Brazil.
June was also an important month in Slovenia, as far as the festivals are concerned. (A)torsion, Director's Cut, The Beezes: Cherries, The Beezes: Going South, Be and Perk successfully represented the Slovenian short film production at SNIFF (21 June - 26 June), the international short film festival in Novo mesto.
The Beezes has just returned from the Showcomotion festival (1 July - 10 July) in Great Britain, and it is already on its way to the Asian continent to Puchon in the distant Korea. In August The Beezes is going to travel to Sarajevo and to the Far East, to the Kinder Film Fest in Tokio.
In the frame of the Zagreb festival of animated films Animafest, which took place in the beginning of June, The Beezes - Cherries was presented in the competition section; at the same time the accompanying program of Slovenian animation also took place with Crossroads 2, Total Boredom, Perk, The Beezes - Going South and Be.
Cheese And Jam returned from the Portuguese festival in Festroia (Setubal), where it was shown between 4 and 13 June. It continued its tour of the festivals and went to the neighbouring country of Spain to the Mostra di Valencia festival on 16 July, where in the section Winners of Valencia Sweet Dreams, which received the Golden Palm of Valencia in 2001, will also be shown again.
Bread And Milk, which received the Lion in Venice, is still touring the international festivals. In the first half of June it was shown at the International Festival in Innsbruck (Austria), and then went to Serbia and Monte Negro on 17 July to the international film festival in Palic.
The Napoli International Film Festival, which took place from 19 to 26 June, invited Spare Parts this year.
The Orphan With The Magical Voice went to Barcelona (Spain) to the InCurt festival, which took place from 2 to 6 June.
On 20 August the jubilee 10th International Sarajevo Film Festival begins in Sarajevo; this year two Slovenian feature films and two short films will be shown here. Beneath Her Window will be shown in the competition section of the feature films, The Beezes and Heart Is a Piece of Meat will be shown in the competition section of the short films, while Blind Spot is going to be presented in the non-competition section.
Let us end the summer overview of the tours of the Slovenian films around the world with a piece of news from Austria. The Austrian Film Archive is going to show two Slovenian films between 9 July and 13 October in the frame of the Mediterranean Film Retrospective. Express Express was shown on 18 July, and Outsider is going to be shown on 28 July. 180 films from 18 countries from the continents of Europe, Asia and Africa are going to be shown at the Mediterranean Film Retrospective.
At the Open Air Rotterdam Hop, Skip And Jump is going to be shown on 10 August.
