Suburbs and Heart Is A Piece Of Meat in Trieste

17. January 2005
From 20 to 27 January the 16th AlpeAdria Film Festival is going to take place in Trieste; this is one of the most important presentations of the Central European film in our immediate proximity.

Slovenian film regularly appears at this festival and it has received quite a number of awards in the competition section at this festival, the last one last year with the special jury mention for the Spare Parts by Damnjan Kozole. In the competition section of ten feature films at the next festival Slovenia will be represented by the film Suburbs by Vinko Möderndorfer, which had its Italian premiere in the new section of the Venice festival. Like in Montpellier, Red Coloured Grey Truck by Srdjan Koljeviæ, which also partially represents Slovenia, will once again compete for the main prize together with the Bulgarian film Mila From Mars by Sophia Zornits, the winner of the festival in Sarajevo, and Goran Paskaljeviæ and Winter Night's Dream...

Jan Cvitkovič with his short film Heart Is A Piece Of Meat, which also started its successful journey in the competition section of the Venice festival, is going to compete inn the category of twenty short films.

A retrospective will be intended for the Slovak director Juraj Jakubisk. There is also a new feature at this year's festival - the competition section for documentary films. In addition, all ten films by the Russian director Viktor Kossakovski, who is known as a great master of that genre, are going to be shown.

"Slovenian film is very important for our festival, I'd say we think of it as 'ours'. During these sixteen years the main programs were only scarcely without it. However, in the future we would like to do more, for example, co-operate in special programs all year long, and I hope we succeed in doing that for our mutual benefit."
