Gravehopping Received an Award in San Sebastian

29. September 2005
The jury of the San Sebastian Film Festival gave the director Jan Cvitkovič the highest monetary award of all film festivals for his film Gravehopping.

The Altadis Award for the directors of their first and second films amounts to 90.000 Euros. The jury explained that the award went to this film because it is an "intelligent combination of comedy and drama through characters that constantly surprise us in a film full of vitality."

Similar to the festival in Venice in 2001, when Cvitkovič received the Lion of the Future for his film Bread and Milk, this time he shared the award with the producer. Thus the film will become more interesting for the Spanish distribution which has already been agreed upon, and after the projection in San Sebastian France is also interested in distributing the film.

The Golden Shell for the best film went to the Czech film Stesti by Bohdan Slama, which is also this director's second film.
