‘TOUS LES CINEMAS DU MONDE’

ALL THE CINEMAS OF THE WORLD

Nine Slovenian Films in the Programme Component TOUS LES CINEMAS DU MONDE

25th May 2007

The youngest section of the Cannes Film Festival enables the visitors of this prestigious international festival an insight into the contemporary production of individual national cinematography as well.

This year the Slovenian Film Fund was invited too. In March, Programme Director, Mr Serge Sobczynski, was being hosted. Mr Sobczynski reviewed all of the full-length film production between the years 2000 and 2006 and most of shortfilms from the same period.

Tous les cinema du monde is the two years ago established non-competitive section of the Cannes Festival. It gives the six selected world cinemtographies the opportunity to present their work. The programme takes place in the new theatre that is situated in the centre of the International Village and can accommodate 175 viewers. This is the market part of the Festival, where various, mostly state institutions, have their pavilions.

Therefore, professional audience is ensured.

The programme offers a possibility of introduction of cultural politics in the field of film, creative achievements and institutions, and companies that engage in filmmaking. Films of variety of productions present there, as one of its intentions is to emphasize the diversity of the world cinematography. This year Poland, India, Columbia, Slovenia, Lebanon, and African countries were given the opportunity.

Each country has its day when up to four feature films are screened; one term is intended for short film.
