The Role in Estrellita Brought Silva Èušin Award at the Mannheim Film Festival

At the 56th International Film Festival in the German city of Mannheim-Heidelberg that has just concluded the Slovenian film celebrated one more time

and even more actress Silva Èušin who received three awards in two weeks. At the 10th Festival of Slovenian Film she received the Vesna Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for Estrellita, then the news came on her being awarded for her lifetime achievement and receiving the Borštnik Ring Award, and finally, Special mention of the International Jury went to her for the role as well in the film Estrellita, directed by Metod Pevec. Special jury mention awards are in Mannheim presented for “extraordinary performance, photography, music, editing and so on in exceptional films”. The explanation by the expert jury of the award Silva Èušin received said as follows: “One Special Mention is awarded to an actress who has made a sometimes reserved, yet powerful performance as the dignified widow of a violin maestro who turns into a mentor of a young musical genius.”

Beside Silva Èušin, the film also featured Marko Kovačeviæ, Senad Bašiæ, Mediha Muslioviæ, Karin Komljanec, Tadej Troha, and others.

The film was made in co-production of the Vertigo and Emotion film and with the financial support of the Slovenian Film Fund.
The Main Award of Mannhein-Heidelberg went to Norwegian film Mirush/Bloodsband, directed by Marius Holst. The film tells a story about an Albanian family in Norway.
Eighteen films competed for awards in the competition programme of the festival.
