The life of Marija Vera is shown as a journey among various cultures, towns, languages, theatres, political systems and periods of history. Barbara Sušec Michieli, the researcher and narrator, travels through Europe by train (the film was shot in seven European countries) and seeks traces of Marija Vera. Her reflections intertwine with clips from Vera's diaries, questioning about acting and theatre, woman’s position in art and life, about home and the world. The portrait is designed like a collage of various images – Marija Vera is shown as an admired theatre star and traveller but also as a lonely creator, mother, and wife. In the film numerous domestic and foreign witnesses are thinking about her, actresses and actors, theatre historians, her relative.
