Creative Europe Desk Slovenia

The Creative Europe Desk Slovenia (CED Slovenia) is the national info office for the promotion of the Creative Europe programme. The tasks of CED Slovenia have been carried out by the Motovila institute since 2014.

Creative Europe is a European Union programme supporting the cultural, creative and audiovisual sectors in Europe. It promotes cultural and linguistic diversity, heritage and the competitiveness of the cultural and creative sectors. The programme contributes to the recovery of these sectors, reinforcing their efforts to become more digital, greener, more resilient and more inclusive. The European Union has earmarked €2.44 billion for the programme in the coming 7-year period (2021–2027).

Creative Europe comprises three programme strands:

CULTURE for all arts and culture sectors (other than audiovisual). It encourages cooperation and exchanges among cultural organisations and artists within Europe and beyond while helping artists find additional opportunities to reach new audiences.

MEDIA for the film and audiovisual sector. The strand supports the development of audiovisual projects, the distribution and promotion of European films, television content and video games while promoting capacity-building for producers, directors, screenwriters and other audiovisual experts. It also supports the European film festival and cinema networks.

The CROSS-SECTORAL strand aims at reinforcing collaboration among creative sectors and now also includes support for the news media sector.

To promote synergies and collaboration between the cultural and creative sectors, CED Slovenia offers users support by providing and sharing information, consultancy in applying to calls, assistance in the search for partners and co-producers, expert support to promote cross-border collaboration and networking in the cultural and creative sectors, and by organising events focused on the empowerment of these sectors, the development of audiences, innovations (digital shift) and the promotion of sustainable (co)operation.

CED Slovenia is part of the European network of national information offices within the scope of the Creative Europe programme, which are based in over 40 programme member states, and its operations are ensured by the Slovenian Ministry of Culture and the European Commission.
