Synopsis
A documentary portrait of a group of people who had served in the Yugoslav National Army just a few years before the war in the ex-Yugoslavia started. They served a year on the island of Vis, at the time called “The Fortress of Adriatic” because of its strategic position and numerous military installations all over the island. A documentary portrait of a group of people who had served in the Yugoslav National Army just a few years before the war in the ex-Yugoslavia started. They served a year on the island of Vis, at the time called “The Fortress of Adriatic” because of its strategic position and numerous military installations all over the island. Vis was one of the two Yugoslav islands that foreigners were forbidden to visit. In a very small military barracks on the edge of the island, far away from any civilization, bizarre things started to happen. Thirty years later, ten former soldiers from the same military barracks remember the events. They are of different nationalities – from Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, to Montenegro – which will be at war with each other just a few years later. Their stories subtly reveal why it is no wonder that Yugoslavia as a country fell apart.

Dugometražni dokumentarni film Rujanska klasa (Slovenija) projekt je slovenskog redatelja i scenarista Igora Šterka poznatog po više filmova zapaženih i nagrađivanih u domovini i inozemstvu (Ekspres, ekspres, 9:06). Rad na ovom filmu autor je započeo tijekom ljeta 2012. kada se navršilo četvrt stoljeća od početka služenja vojnog roka rujanskog naraštaja vojnika bivše Jugoslavenske narodne armije na otoku Visu. Projekt zbog naravi priče i praćenja svojih protagonista – ročnika tadašnje jesenske klase JNA-a – ima relativno otvoren razvoj radnje, ali čvrstu redateljsku strukturu u kojoj se doslovce istraživački prate sudbine ljudi koje je 1987. povezala vojska, a kasnije razdvojio život na različite načine pri čemu su se neki od njih u predstojećem ratu našli na međusobno suprotstavljenim stranama. Hrvatski je koproducent Spiritus movens d.o.o. iza kojega je niz nagrađivanih projekata (Obrana i zaštita) među kojima su i međunarodne koprodukcije (Sieranevada). Uz dio filmske ekipe, glavnina su protagonista filma iz Hrvatske te lokacije snimanja.
