Long Live Freedom / Živela svoboda (1987)
The aged Repovž often reminisces about the Second World War, but his memories, rather than being heroically tragic, are comically amusing. In his narrative, one of the villagers breaks his own hand several times in order to avoid being recruited, while another one enjoys scaring the wits out of the occupying soldiers in the village by sneaking up on them and firing off his gun at strategic moments. Repovž's memories include tales of the villager's amorous exploits, the difficulties encountered by the villagers due to the government's policy for purchasing their produce, and the story of a partisan hero who, when he failed to get the girl he'd set his heart on, found solace in the return of his white horse...
